Throughout the site visitors are invited to submit comments, questions and concerns about the project. In some cases, such the area in the sidebar, identifying yourself is optional, although encouraged. In other areas we require people to register. This site is available to everyone in the world with access to the Internet and any of them can submit comments. Since we are trying to make this site first serve the needs of the residents of York Region, it is helpful to be able to distinguish among the comments received those made by residents and those by others interested in our project. Another reason for asking those commenting who they are is to allow us to respond to them about their concerns and questions. While we cannot respond individually to all comments there may be cases where it would be beneficial to be able to do so. Finally, asking for identification is a way to keep our site from being used for frivolous purposes by those whose motives are mischief rather than genuine interest. In this area we do provide the option of asking that your comments not be published on the site and an additional option to allow the comments to be published but without your name attached. In every case, we respect your privacy and maintain information we collect in confidence, with the understanding that comments and names, with permission, may be published on the site. |
