Maps, Reports, Studies and Data Project history is important to consider when examining the project in the context of the larger York Region sewer system. Vision 2026 and the follow-up to that report, Towards the Vision, explain the infrastructure needs of York Region. The YDSS Master Plan Update provides an overview of the recommended water and sewer system planned within the Region. A class EA for the original project was completed in June of 2003 and approximately 80% of the detailed design was completed by October 2004. In the summer of 2004, the Minister of the Environment received a Bump-up request for this Project to an Individual Environmental Assessment. Although the Minister denied the request for a bump-up, a number of conditions have been imposed on York Region. These conditions have to be satisfied prior to proceeding to Construction.
York Region and its consultants are currently examining the alternative route alignments and construction techniques. The associated documents will be made available here once they are finalized.
